ROSES CARE, INSTRUCTION

Remove flowers from box by cutting any straps. Do not remove the cardboard sleeve or the rubber bands holding the flowers together in a bunch. It is recommended to leave the cardboard sleeve on for 4 to 8 hours. This will allow the Rose sufficient time to hydrate properly.
Fill containers with at least 4 inches of fresh, cool water.

Add floral food to prevent bacteria from forming in the water and to give added nutrients to the roses. If you do not have flower food, it can be purchased at any local florist.
Remove any leaves that fall below the water line. Not removing the leaves may cause bacteria to form and shorten the rose’s life. Wear gloves while preparing the flowers, as the tint for any tinted variety may seep from the stem and temporarily stain hands and/or permanently stain clothing.

Using sharp scissors or a knife, cut the stems diagonally under running water approximately one inch from each stem’s bottom edge.

Immediately after cutting, place the stems in the prepared water.
Allow flowers at least 4 hours to hydrate well. Roses may take up to 12 hours to properly hydrate.

Keep flowers away from direct sunlight, drafts or excessive heat.

To keep the roses fresh, change the water every 24 to 48 hours or when the water becomes cloudy. The water color will change if this is a tinted product. Simply change water as directed. Assure that your flowers have sufficient water. The flowers will drink an exceptionally large amount of water upon arrival.

Remember that exposing roses to heat will help the flower to bloom, and storing your roses in a cooler environment will slow down the opening process.

Time is extremely important!! When you receive your flowers you will need to care for them immediately. Your roses will arrive thirsty after their journey. If petals are drooping or the flowers look wilted, DO NOT BE ALARMED! You are going to provide care for the flowers just like a professional florist!

Step 1:
Please open the box as soon as you receive it! Check to make sure you received the correct amount of flowers.

Step 2:
Carefully remove all plastic and rubber bands. Be sure to always treat your flowers with care!

Step 3:
Fill a container with fresh, cool water to the desired level.

Step 4:
Remove any foliage from the flowers that fall below the water line of your vase. In removing foliage, care should be taken not to damage the stem. The reason for removing any foliage below the water line is to prevent growth of bacteria which would result in premature wilting.

Step 5:
Using a sharp knife or scissors cut your flowers at an angle which will allow for a larger surface for water absorption and prevent the ends of your stems from sitting flat in the container blocking water absorption. If possible, you should cut your flowers underwater which will prevent any air bubbles, which can cause blockages in the stems.

Step 6:
Immediately after cutting your flowers, place them in the prepared container. Make sure to cut every stem. If possible, place your flowers in a cool dark corner overnight before arranging them – out of direct sunlight and direct drafts. If you see that some flowers are still drooping after 3-4 hours, it’s possible an air bubble has formed, re-cut following the above directions.

Tips To Create A Perfect Flower Garden

Gardens, employing flowers as their primary elements, are called flower gardens. Plants, shrubs, trees and the other contributing components are present as well, but the focus is on flowers. These flower gardens are usually cultivated for ornamental purposes.
How Did The Idea Evolve?
Todays flower gardens have an interesting history behind them : While pruning, some farmers noted a few colorful weeds. They liked the colors and so left them there. The concept of tolerating these beautiful weeds, gradually caught on and led to the culture of cultivating flowers.

Flower gardens arranged artistically, are known as Knot gardens. Knot gardens are designed by a systematic composition of plants, herbs and shrubs. The plants are planted in a pre-calculated way so that when they grow, they end up forming a desired design. Most common ones are rectangle-regions or square-compartments. The edges are given shape with herbs planted in queues, with almost no space left in-between. These are also cut accordingly to maintain the width of the edges throughout in synch. The fence in this fashion, often brings paths in flower gardens, for the visitors to walk through.

These paths derived by boundaries, are sometimes filled with sand, gravel or concrete, and the trend of growing lawn in the regions traced is now on the rise. The number of square regions a Knot garden can carry, depends on the size of a garden and varies in the range of one to ten. These types of flower gardens were first designed in the times of Queen Elizabeth I in UK.

Plants used to form Knot flower gardens are lemon balm, hyssop, costmary, germander, marjoram, acanthus, mallow, chamomile, rosemary, calendulas, violas, thyme, southernwood, santolina etc. Such flower gardens are also called parterres.

Herb Gardens
The gardens with plants used for medicinal and cooking purposes are known as herb gardens. Some flowers are edible, one can eat them freshly-cut, while some others may only be eaten when cooked or baked. Flower gardens are at times, cultivated to grow medicinal plants too, such as aloevera. In ancient times, there were no modern physicians, just the nuns and monks, who were said to heal pain by using extracts of plants.
Aloevera is still widely used today for skin treatments, especially for treating acne. The others herbs falling in this genre are : rosemary, parsley, sage, marjoram, thyme, mint, rue, angelica, bay, basil etc.

Tips For Your Domestic Flower Gardens
Flower gardens need that extra attention from their creators:
- The color, aroma, height, leafage are all attributes of the plants, should be studied carefully before sowing their seeds in your flower gardens. One thing to be kept in mind is that no two plants with similar colored blossoms should be placed beside each other.
- Spacing between the plants should also be worked out in advance.
- A well-examined flower-seed-mix can be used to take care of the arrangements and designs of the flower-plants.
- Different plants bloom in different seasons. Paying due attention to this fact, the plants should be grown in such a way so as to make the flower gardens look colorful throughout the year.
